This is the youngest Macon appellation created in 1999 and replaces the former white wine appellations of Macon-Clesse and Macon-Vire.
Because the wines of the two closely resemble each other in typicity, it was decided to form them into a single appellation, although the terroirs included in it were subjected to a rigorous selection process. The appellation consists of two hill-slopes running North-South between the valleys of Bourbonne and the Mouge.
This charming wine is well-balanced with a fresh finish. Vines are more than 55 years old and benefit from a rich clay and limestone soil. Grown in harmony with nature with regular ploughing and manual harvesting.
