2020 An Early Vintage
Whilst the whole world has slowed down to protect itself from the Coronovirus, the vineyards are looking beautiful ……
We have benefitted from an incredible weather during the Spring of 2020: Heat and sunshine have allowed the vines to start the best possible way.
The young grapes are looking nice and plentiful which leads us to expect an early and full harvest.
Weather conditions and vineyard development on May 26 2020 – A relatively dry and mild winter combined with a warm start at spring lead to an early bud.
Abundant and regular rainfalls were much appreciated in early May and ensured a hydric reserve allowing the vines to start flourishing in the best possible conditions. After a few cooler days mid-May, flowering was quickly over, under an ideal dry and warm weather around May 22nd.
Spring went on under summery conditions leading to a surplus of insolation over the first 4 months of the year.
The different tasks in the vineyards were carried out an a fast pace, wines are looking great with a generous grape output.
We have been able to lead all our new plantings in good conditions.
As far as the climatic conditions and vineyard development, 2020 is off to a great start – similar to the wonderful 2011 vintage. Fingers crossed!!
As to the start of harvest…….??
Last week of August – to be confirmed !
